Indian Kitchen: Secrets of Indian Home Cooking by Maunika Gowardhan 

I bought this book in an airport in India. Inspired by the trip, I just had to have it and have not regretted it since. I read it from cover to cover on the plane and made quite a few dishes inspired by the recipes in the book. I love the simplicity in the recipes and texts, the same as the fact that you can actually make the recipes without failing. If you love bread (and who doesn’t), start with the baking section. Simple, authentic, and modern.
