Nuss. The story of linen
No one loves France and French culture — the food, the spirit, the many beautiful things — as much as I do. Even the French themselves don’t always seem as passionate as I can be (perhaps I over-exaggerate at times).
But when it comes to linen, pardon moi, France — I truly believe no one does it better than Latvians (well, Lithuanians and Estonians maybe) as linen is engraved in our DNA — it’s something we grew up with, something we know, feel, and understand exceptionally well.
It is no surprise that many big brands turn to Latvian craftsmanship, using our materials and knowledge in their grand collections — and later, on the packaging, you might spot: Made in Latvia. Yes. And quite logically so, considering the rich history Latvia carries.
That’s why I’m genuinely proud to tell the story of — and collaborate with — this small-in-size but grand-in-heart Latvian company, Nuss, whose aprons and tablecloth (the latter soon to be plural!) I use and will continue using in my masterclasses, both in France and Latvia.
The name Nuss, derived from a family name, is a tribute to the ancestors who made it possible for this generation to be here and do this work. Nuss is a story of love and passion, born from the desire to create simple, minimalistic, timeless gifts for friends and family — which gradually grew into a business that now ships worldwide. Everyone who "meets" Nuss in real life begins a lasting story with them — the quality is superb, the colours are beautiful, and the service is generous.
Robes, hair towels, tablecloths, aprons, runners and napkins all come in soft, pastel, nature-inspired tones — made with precision, passion, love and knowledge, rooted in deep respect for tradition.
And one more important thing: everything is sewn in Latvia, using OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified materials, ensuring that no harm is done to people or the environment in the process.
