Old vintages, plenty of food and pop-up in Burgundy

After sipping my matcha latte at the Saturday Beaune market (one of the best I’ve had so far in my life) and shopping for food, I arrived at @lamaison, disappearing into the kitchen where hours flew by in seconds as I prepared food for the late-night apero organised by La Maison de Pommard and Haute Cotes. Later that night, together with my food, bottles of champagne and wines from old vintages popped open like mushrooms after the rain. The evening passed quickly, leaving me feeling drenched—but not from the cooking. No. Solely because it was an evening where my brain was tested like never before, as I had to switch between speaking Latvian, English, and, most challengingly, French. So, after a workout of that scale, it goes without saying that my sleep was very good.

But the reason for our time there wasn’t just to eat and drink. No. The following day, Sunday, was dedicated to a Pop-Up event gathering different and genuinely amazing French artisans, from olive oil and soaps to tablecloths, clothes, pottery, and bags. It brought together locals and Parisians who enjoyed the beauty of crafted products and the atmosphere of La Maison de Pommard. And, hopefully, my food, too. I returned home with some bottles of absolutely stunning olive oil, lavender soap, and the best emotions a person could have.
