Geneviève, Pommard / October 2026

We have just experienced a dream weekend in Burgundy - the “Mecca” of much of the best French wine. Our delightful host Signe invited us to the beautifully restored La Maison de Pommard. The culinary experience included cooking lessons run by Signe, who taught us some succulent recipes, all shared around an elegantly dressed table and accompanied by a rich selection of champagne as well as some of the great local wines. One of the highlights of the weekend was also our walk around Beaune market, one of the best I have ever experienced. The quality of the products entices one to dream of wonderful French recipes, and we had to restrain ourselves from trying all the irresistible cheeses. A walk around the autumnal vineyards which surrounded us was the occasion for lively discussions with our new friends before more cooking and wine tasting. Such a memorable weekend - not forgetting the delicious breakfasts prepared for us by Fatima,  who also looked after us so well! Signe’s hospitality was warm and generous. She made everything look effortless and enjoyable!
