Long awaited. ESPA

I placed some dried apricots and nuts on my plate, next to a cup of herbal tea. I slowly walked to my lounge chair, sat down, and covered myself with a blanket, sadly realising it was the end of a very special two and a half hours.

When arriving in Riga, I knew that after landing at Riga Airport, the next place I wished to land was my dear spa centre – ESPA. I had dreamt about it. I needed it. And I love this place I hadn’t visited for three years. I knew I wanted to submerge myself in that pool. I knew I wanted to heat my body in the sauna and steam those layers of stress off in the Turkish bath. I knew I wished to do it all on repeat – just as I had dreamt about someone’s hands taking care of my tired body. And someone did.

After a good 55 minutes in the pool and saunas, the lift took me to the 5th floor, where – before spoiling every inch of my body – I was invited to sit and smell a few massage oils to let my body decide what it was craving. I smelled one hand, then the other, and chose a mixture of lavender and other herbs. Just perfect for relaxation. And then it began. I lay there, feeling every touch of her hands as she scrubbed my legs and massaged my back. Turning around, I enjoyed a face massage and then an amazing scalp treatment that made my hair shine like never before.

Time passed far too quickly, even though it was a 90-minute procedure. It felt like barely 40. At the same time, Paula was enjoying her moments in the pool area – where we had shared our first 55 minutes together – and then she was there all by herself, happily soaking up every minute of happiness in a spa that had always been our go-to place when we lived in Latvia.

Needless to say – I slept extremely well that night. ♥️
