Nümorning
I am a great granola lover. I have always been, and I am sure I always will be – there is a real pleasure in biting into the crunchiness of oats and nuts, mixed with that sweet touch we all adore and crave for time to time. But with the market flooded with granolas that bring no real value to our bodies (sometimes even harming), overly sweet in every bite, and often packed with unnecessary ingredients, it’s become increasingly difficult to find one that’s actually any good.
But, there are some good news and they come straight from Lyon.
The moment I tried the vanilla and chocolate granolas (two different flavours) from Nümorning – after reading the ingredient list, bien sûr – I felt something. A sense of connection. A lightness after eating. I touch of joy, even. And, I knew this one was a keeper.
Beautifully crunchy, not too sweet but just enough to give that sought-after sweetness, without refined sugar, lots of minerals, some probiotics, and full of the flavours they actually promise (unlike some nut granolas where you need a magnifying glass to spot a single nut), these granolas were born from the founder’s deep love for oats, a background in engineering, and a very good sense of taste.
Mathilde, one of the co-founders, has loved oats since she was four years old, having discovered porridge while in the United States. Oats continued to follow her as she lived in Canada and the UK, where breakfast porridge still plays a starring role. After studying agricultural engineering and being raised in a family with deep respect for nature and humanity, combined with her oat obsession, the brand Numorning was born.
But she’s not alone in this. After meeting David, also an engineer, and introducing him to the joy of granola, porridge, and muesli, it became his go-to for getting through the day, starting with that first bowl of breakfast. And he was all into creating something.
It all began, of course, with just the two of them, mixing hundreds upon hundreds of kilos of granola by hand – for over a year. In Lyon, the city I call home. Now, with a much larger team, they’ve grown to the point that these granolas are no longer just for locals – they’re available on a much bigger scale, making mornings the favourite part of the day for many people who, like me, dream of breakfast as they take their last bite of dinner.
I don’t want to convince you too hard to dive into their granola range – that’s entirely up to you. But before I leave you to decide, I just want you to know that each granola, made with 100% natural ingredients, is not only a sweet bite but one packed with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fibre. Some even contain probiotics and extra vitamins. And all of them can help boost vitality, reduce inflammation, support digestion, balance hormones, and offer many other benefits.
So, while you’re still thinking, let me go and grab my breakfast bowl – and be lucky that I already have Nümorning at home.
