Palais Ségurane
Nice, contrary to what one might think, is not bubbling with nice and well-priced hotels like almost any other city in France (except Lyon). It has many places, yet many of them are far from the ones you would expect. And if there are some better options, they are much further away from walking distance around Nice.
But in the heart of Nice, next to the old town, the port, and Le Parc de la Colline du Château, there is a place called Palais Ségurane. A boutique hotel with a spa and a very well-made breakfast (I loved my ginger-spiced granola). I booked in two hours earlier and was lucky to have my room ready before the scheduled time. After a short rest, I left for the day, sadly spending no time in the hotel as Nice awaited me. But I wasn’t too sad, as I knew that the next day, at 9.30 AM, my day would commence at the private spa with a jacuzzi, sauna, and steam room, all just for me to enjoy for 1.5 hours.
Yes, the spa here is not to mingle with unknown people but reserved just for yourself. What a treat it is, especially after a generous breakfast with perfectly made espresso, homemade granola, and eggs that were too many for my appetite. I didn’t stay at the hotel much, as I’m the walking type who spends more time outside than inside. But, due to the perfect location, I did get back there many times during my stay—to rest, to put down things I bought, to leave my extra sweater, and so on. And next time, I’ll be back, as the location, service, and breakfast have convinced me to. And that spa, as well.
