Paris addresses. Edition III

The rain came earlier than expected, and the empty Sunday streets looked a bit sad at times. A few runners passed by the hotel window while I was enjoying my double espresso and soft-boiled eggs. Many more, wet as rats and splashed with water, were clocking up their kilometres while I, snug under an umbrella, walked to the Picasso Museum — on the list for years.

As it was only 11.00, the museum was still easily accessible (a few hours later the queues stretch well beyond the corner), as were seats at the coffee shop, where I hid from the rain and escaped for quite a while. It was supposed to stop raining, yet it never did, keeping many Parisians at home and sending others out to simply enjoy their Sunday regardless.

Twenty-one kilometres — and Basque cheesecake, flan and kebab — later, with a shokupan in my falling apart paper bag, I returned to the warmth. The rain was still on, but it wasn’t my problem anymore.
