Go nuts
One can really go nuts when trying Go Nuts – that incredibly dense creaminess in just one bite that sweeps you off your feet and turns a peanut butter hater into a lover, and a lover into an addict.
I still remember the first time I bought Go Nuts creamy peanut butter. Back in Latvia, another brand had become a staple for the girls – the only one, in fact, that met their high standards. And I can relate, as there’s nothing worse than dry, oily peanut butter that requires a swim through that 1 cm of oil just to get to the good part.
Only 48 hours after settling into life here, I assumed finding a worthy substitute – organic, 100% peanut, made the right way – would be a challenge. But to my surprise, there it was, in the very first organic shop I stepped into. Go Nuts, in all its glory, proudly presenting itself to be picked up for three simple reasons: it looked unbelievably creamy, it was organic, and it was made in Lyon. Barely two days after arriving, and I was already feeling patriotic about local produce.
Go Nuts, a family-run business born in a home kitchen, was quite literally managed from that very kitchen for months. Peanuts were blended into creamy butters, packed, and delivered to shops – all by hand, from home. Today, it has grown into a much bigger and much-loved Lyonnais brand – not only in Lyon but across the region and wider France. And rightly so.
Their peanut butters are genuinely creamy, with little to no oil floating on top of a dry mass (we’ve all been there, trying to stir that into something edible). It’s one of those products you very quickly can’t imagine life without. And it doesn’t stop there. Their range includes peanut butter blended with four spices, with crunchy peanut bits, or with chocolate. Then come the other nut butters – almond (plain or spiced), hazelnut, Amazonian nut and more – some even blended with raspberries, blueberries, or savoury spices.
And as the cherry on top, there are those peanut butter cups – simply the best treat ever. Truly. A creamy (not palm-oil-laden and dry) peanut butter centre, enrobed in either dark or milk chocolate. A treat that doesn’t just feed your body – it nourishes your soul.
There are no words that truly capture the glory of these products, so, with a peanut butter palette (that divine little candy) melting in my mouth, I’ll end this story here and simply hope you’ll join my fan club.
